He has two published books to his credit: Nahareko Manchhe (Undefeated Man) and A Person Kissed by the Moon, both collection of poems. The Post shares his reading habits. Excerpts:
How did you first come to love books?
Well, I was first forced by my parents, when I was a kid. Eventually, though, and lucky for me, it turned out to be a habit over the years.
What was the last book you read and how did you like it?
I recently reread Free Play, by Stephen Nachmanovitch. I got it as a gift from Dr Saroj Dhital. I just love the book unconditionally.
Which book do you want to read next and why?
I have two books that I am planning to read: Fyodor Dostoevsky’s The Idiot and The Second Sex, by Simone de Beauvoir. I love their work; I am sure I will love finding new layers in their writings.
What is your favourite genre and why?
I love literary classics; they are flawless, honest and close to my soul.
How do you select books to read?
I select books by the name of the author.
Do you have a favourite poem/poet?
Tonight I Can Write the Saddest Lines, by Pablo Neruda is my absolute favourite poem! There are many others too. I love the works by Maya Angelou, Faiz Ahmad Faiz, Mirza Ghalib, Gopal Prasad Rimal, Durga Lal Shrestha, Shyamal and Bimal Nibha. There are many others on the list.
Name a book that you would or would not recommend, and why?
There isn’t any particular book I would not recommend. Every book has something to teach. Let all books live; long live the books!
Do you prefer fiction or non-fiction? Why?
I prefer good books; it doesn’t matter if it is fiction or non-fiction.
What is good writing for you? What would you say makes a good writer?
I think you become a good writer when you pour your heart and soul into creating something. A good piece of literature should touch your soul.
How have books affected your life?
They have taken me to the closet of life.
One book that inspired you a lot and why?
Siddhartha, by Hermann Hesse is one book that has inspired me a lot.
Your advice for general readers?
Read, just read. Make it a habit. Reading will give you just another reason to be happy.
Are you planning on writing a book yourself?
I have written one. I have doubts about it, but I am also driven to write more, always.
