Rutahat police has arrested six people, including an Indian national, who were involved in printing counterfeit Nepali currency. They were made public along with Rs 50,000 fake bills and a print making paraphernalia at the District Police Office on Thursday.
Police busted the racket after one Ram Prabesh Yadav was held with a fake bill of Rs 1,000 two days ago.
Based on Yadav’s statement, police detained Jugal Kishor Kuswaha, Narayan Chaudhary and Osi Mohammad of Rutahat, Manoj Kumar Mahato of Dhanusha, and Abhaya Kumar from Ghorasahan of Bihar state of India. Police Inspector Ram Prakash Chaudhary said the six men had been printing and circulating the counterfeit bills taking advantage of the ongoing protest in the Tarai districts.
