Pakistan amassed a mammoth 291-7 in 50 overs riding on half centuries from Zeeshan Malik and Umair Maqsood. Nepal were restricted to 181-9 in their 50 with only three batsmen playing with some grit. Dipendra Airee played freely smashing a 40-ball 42 for Nepal. Nepal were reduced to 40-4 inside 12 overs after Saif Ali and Sameen Gul picked up two wickets apiece.
Ishan Pandey (20) was the leading scorer from the top order, while Sunil Dhamala (eight), Yogendra Karki (eight) and Shankar Rana (one) were out cheaply. Skipper Raju Rijal and Aarif Sheikh tried to put Nepal in the match with a 56-run fifth wicket stand. Rijal was out for 28 off 62 after hitting five boundaries.
Sheikh shared another 29-run partnership with Rajbir Singh (10) but along with the two batsmen Nepal also lost Prem Tamang (duck) in quick succession to get reduced to 138-8 in 42 overs. Airee, however, played some fluent shots to push Nepal towards a respectable total. He smashed three sixes and three boundaries on his way to sharing 42 runs for the ninth wicket with Kushal Bhurtel.
Bhurtel was unbeaten on 14 off 23 with one boundary. Opener Pandey hit three fours in 25 deliveries. Apart from Gul and Ali, Shadab Khan and Arsal Sheikh also picked up two wickets each for Pakistan.
Earlier, Pakistan had a strong start after Malik and Mohammad Umar (31) added 79 runs for the first wicket. Malik was out in the 25th over to leg spinner Sandeep Lamichhane for 83 off 85 with 12 boundaries and two sixes. After the dismissal of Malik, Nepal managed to reduce Pakistan to 184-5 in 38 overs before Masood and Hasan Mohsin began to cut loose.
The two batsmen added 74-run partnership for the sixth wicket and though Mohsin was out for 37, Masood pushed the team close to 300. Masood hammered 59 off 36 with seven fours and two sixes. Lamichhane picked up 3-76 from 10 overs, while Sushil Kandel had miserly figures of 2-47 from 10.
