Subedi’s solo sculpture exhibition kicks off
Nabin Subedi’s solo sculpture exhibition, titled Mohini, kicked off amid a ceremony held at Nepal Art Council, Babarmahal, on January 23. “The emotions of need and the capabilities of human beings woven with love and tragedy is what I have tried to express through my work,” said artist Subedi, speaking during the opening ceremony. The sculptures on display are the portraits of well-known personalities such as Ram Krishna Dhakal, Krishnahari Baral and Rastra Kavi Madhav Prasad Ghimire. “The art works are outcome of the figments my imagination and of my fascination with the human anatomy,” added Subedi.
The highlight of the exhibition, the sculpture titled Mohini, is based on a song by the same name penned by Subedi himself. The song was also launched during the event.
The event also saw the presence of dignitaries from the Nepali art circle and literary figures such as Krishnahari Baral, Madan Chitrakar, Nabaraj Lamsal, and Mukesh Malla, among others. Speaking during the event, Rastra Kavi Madhav Prasad Ghimire said: “Literature, art, music-all come under the same roof. Art and culture is embedded in the souls of all Nepalis. It is what we do best and what we take pride in.”
Krishnahari Baral, who felicitated the sculptor during the programme, said,” With young artists like Nabin, I believe, the future of Nepali art is in capable hands.”
Subedi, who has to his credit more than 390 sculptures, has presented a selection of statues that range from two to eight feet tall at this exhibition.The exhibition will continue till February 1.
