Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Physical Infrastructure and Trans-portation Bijaya Kumar Gachhadar said on Thursday that the agitating Samyukta Loktantrik Madhesi Morcha needed to stop protests.

“The SLMM doesn’t need to continue protests now,” said Gachhadar while talking to journalists at Biratnagar Airport on Friday. “The constitution amendment has addressed all the demands, except the issue of federal boundaries, of the Madhesi Morcha.”

Stating that no constitution in the world incorporates everything at once, the chairman of Madhesi Janadhikar Forum-Loktantrik said the constitution would be made complete through amendments. He said preparations were being made to address the issue of state demarcation through a high-level political mechanism. The political demands of the indigenous groups, Madhesis and Muslims were addressed by the constitution after the amendments, he added.

Gachhadar also called on the government and agitating parties to be responsible and flexible.
