Pokhrel quits Manmohan Institute

Pokhrel was Vice-chairman at Manmohan Memorial Saving and Credit Cooperative Limited that operates the MMIHS. According to sources, Pokhrel on Sunday withdrew his share worth Rs200,000 in the institute and Rs5,000 from the cooperative along with interest of Rs2,000. Pokhrel is the founder member of the institute.
Pokhrel submitted his resignation letter to MMIHS Chairman Rajendra Pandey, a UML parliamentarian.The government has presented the “Manmohan Academy of Health Sciences Bill” at Parliament after the institute failed to get affiliation to run an MBBS programme. The move has drawn widespread criticism from experts in the field who have said that it would set a bad precedence in medical education.
