CoAS Chettri meets senior figures in India
Indian president will decorate CoAS Chhetri amid a special programme on WednesdayChief of Army Staff Gen Rajendra Chhetri, who is currently in India on a week-long visit, has started meetings with high-level political figures and army officials. On Tuesday, he held meetings with Indian Home Minister Rajnath Singh and Minister for Defence Manohar Parrikar, along with his Indian counterpart CoAS Gen Dalbir Singh.
He also held bilateral talks during separate meetings with Chief of the Naval Staff Admiral Robin K. Dhowan, Chief of Staff Committee General Bikram Singh, Chief of the Air Staff Arup Raha and National Security Advisor Ajit Doval, Directorate of Public Relations of Nepal Army said in a press statement on Tuesday.
As per the tradition of conferring honorary tittles to each other’s Army chiefs between two nations, Indian President Pranab Mukherjee will decorate Chhetri amid a programme at the President’s Office on Wednesday. Chettri’s first foreign trip since becoming CoAS of Nepal Army has, however, courted controversy as it has come at the time when the country is
reeling under the unofficial blockade imposed by the southern neighbour.
