Fringe parties not for vote threshold

In an interaction with EC officials on Friday, Nepal Majdoor Kisan Party and Chure Bhawar Ekata Samaj opposed the requirement. The provision, they argued, would deprive the fringe parties of the support.
In the draft Political Party Related Act-2072, the EC also makes it mandatory for the political parties to be audited by the Office of the Auditor General. In a bid to ensure financial transparency and discourage corruption among political parties, the EC proposed that political parties be provided with funds from the state on their electoral performance.
