A six-day-old baby boy died in want of treatment in Ghorahi, Dang, on Monday as the ambulance that was supposed to take him to hospital did not have fuel. The parents Lila Gharti and Lekh Gharti of Rampur-6 said their son was having some respiratory problem and had called the ambulance. The ambulance ran out of diesel on the way to hospital. For two hours, the ambulance driver, Poshan Bhandari, searched for fuel by which time the baby died.
Bhandari said he had a fuel coupon issued by police, but could not get the fuel anywhere. The child could have lived if he had received medical attention on time, he added.
