The devastating quake had knocked down the structure, including the statue, on April 25 last year.
The metropolis started the reconstruction nine months after the quake with financial support of Century Bank. “This is a part of the city
beatification project after the devastating quake,” said Rabin Man Shrestha, chief of the Environment Division at the KMC.
Besides, flowers of various species will be planted in the three deserted traffic islands at Tripureshwor. The metropolis has already allocated Rs1 million for the overall reconstruction. “This time we are going to keep the area open; this will give a pleasant look to the area,” said Shrestha, explaining that there will be no fences and umbrella on top of the statue.
The metropolis has also announced to build Madhan Bhandari Ashrit Baha (a resting public space) that spreads over one ropani in the public space at Ward no 35, Koteshwor.
