The National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) has started investigation into the January 21 police firing in Morang district in which three persons were killed.
Draupadi Devi Chaudhary of Rangeli-4, Mahadev Rishidev of Baranga-2 and Shibu Majhi of Dayaniya-9 were killed when police opened fire in Rangeli and Dayaniya during a demonstration of the Madhes-based parties.
A high-level investigation committee comprising Mohana Ansari, Govinda Sharma Poudyal, the regional director and human rights officers has been tasked
with carrying out the investigation.
“The commission has decided to follow up on the previous investigation,” said Ansari. The panel is recording statements of the chief district officer, chief of security forces and eyewitnesses.
