A medical team led by Dr Nirmal Rasaili, the chief of Dailekh District Public Health Office (DPHO), reached the areas affected by diarrhoea outbreak on Tuesday.
Chief District Officer (CDO) Pitambar Ghimire said that the team led by Dr Rasaili started providing treatment in the affected VDCs of Lakandra, Tolijaisi and Bishala.
“The health workers of the local health institutions are also kept at high alert to control the disease from spreading,” said Ghimire.
Two technicians from the Department of Health Services have also reached the affected area to investigate the cause of the disease.
A seven-month-old and an eight-month-old from Tolijaisi VDC died on Saturday night at a local clinic while hundreds others are down with diarrhoea. Besides diarrhoea, some children are also suffering from pneumonia and fever.
According to Dr Kikash Sah, who works at a local health centre, more than a dozen children have been referred to Surkhet for treatment while others are receiving treatment at local health facilities.
