Church Boys enter semis

Church Boys FC of Kathmandu rallied for a 3-2 win over hosts Sagarmatha Youth Club in the Kandangwa Gold Cup football tournament in Birat Chowk on Wednesday. 

Suren Khawas converted from a freekick to give the hosts a 22nd minute lead. The hosts appeared to be coasting to victory when Bhuwan Basnet doubled their lead 11 minutes later. However, Dorje Lama pulled one back for Church Boys in the 42nd minute before two quick goals in the second half injury time saw them advance to the semi-finals. Miken Tamang scored an equaliser in the third minute of injury time and Lama completed a remarkable turnaround with the winning goal seconds before the final whistle. 

In all eight teams are participating in the tournament that offers Rs 2,01,000 for the champions and Rs 1,01,000 for the runners-up. (PR)
