Talking to journalists in Itahari, Sharma said his party has been making a pitch for change of guard and that Madhes-based parties, including the Sanghiya Samajbadi Forum Nepal led by Upendra Yadav, would be taken into confidence to facilitate the implementation of the constitution by addressing their demands.
Madhes-based parties have been protesting against some provisions of the constitution and of late are demanding revision of federal boundaries. “A national consensus government will be formed under NC’s leadership with Upendraji’s party that will successfully implement the constitution,” said Sharma.
On Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli’s recent visit to India, Sharma called it a “regular visit”.
Sharma also made it clear that his party was not considering recalling its ministers from the government and that there were no plans to withdraw support to the incumbent government.
On prospects of unity among communist forces, Sharma explicitly said that unity with Baburam Bhattarai’s Naya Shakti is next to impossible, as he has “completely deserted Marxism”.
Bhattarai, who in September severed his ties with the UCPN (M), has formed his own party called “Naya Shakti”. Sharma also alleged that Bhattarai quit the party under pressure from India. On Madhes unrest, the Maoist leader said the major parties failed to clear the rumours about the constitution.
