Earlier, the NRA had announced that it would start reconstruction of houses from Singati village from Friday.
Several bureaucratic procedures are yet to be completed to start aid distribution. In addition, the NRA, which is seeking participation of the major parties while distributing aid, appears to be reluctant to start the reconstruction campaign without the participation of representatives of the NC, which is holding its 13th General Convention from Thursday.
“The NRA would like to have the presence of representatives of all the major parties as per their wish. So, we are discussing if we could delay aid distribution,” said NRA Spokesperson Suresh Adhikari. The NRA is for delaying the campaign by three-four days in view of the NC’s GC which will be concluded on Sunday.
The money released for reconstruction of houses needs to get the approval from the Ministry of Federal Affairs and Local Development and District Development Committee before it is channelized to the concerned resource centre.
Eleven months have passed since the devastating quake hit the country, killing nearly 9,000 people and destroying hundreds of thousands of buildings across the country, but reconstruction is yet to start at the local level.
