Thapa reigns supreme
POKHARA: Nepal Armed Police Force (APF) Club athlete Narayan Thapa won the 10th Pokhara International Marathon here on Saturday. Thapa time 2:32:04 to beat his closest competitor Mixon Tamang of Bhojpur, who completed the 42.195km race in 2:34:04. Another APF runner Dharma Maharjan ended up third. In all 84 athletes took part in the event organised by Ex Players’ Forum. The top three received Rs 60,000, Rs 40,000 and Rs 25,000.
Int’l volleyball tourney
CHITWAN: The Padmodaya International Men’s Volleyball Tournament is beginning here in Patihani from Sunday. A total of six teams including three foreign invitees and three Nepali departmental clubs are participating in the tournament. BMW of New Delhi, Bangladesh Water and Power Resources and Samche Volleyball Club of Bhutan are the foreign invitees. The four-day tournament will give away Rs 150,000 to the champions, while first and second runners-up will get Rs 100,000 and Rs 50,000 respectively.
Media Cup Wall Climbing
KATHMANDU: Rishi Ram Khatiwada won the Suman Bhomjan Memorial Media Cup Wall Climbing at the Dashrath Stadium premises on Saturday. Khatiwada won ahead of Anil Singh Thakuri and Neeraj Chandra Roy. The event was organised by Sports Climbing Association in the memory of journalist Suman Bhomjan who died during the April 25 earthquake last year.
