Bhaktapur, Lalitpur DDCs budget passed

District Development Committees of Bhaktapur and Lalitpur have announced their budget for the fiscal year 2016/17.
Local Development Officer of Bhaktapur DDC Dhruba Prasad Koirala made public Rs2.88 billion budget for the fiscal on Friday during the 28th District Council meeting which also approved the DCC policies and programmes. The earmarked budget was lower compared to last fiscal year’s Rs3.53 billion as the DDC expects its revenue to fall due to the devastation of earthquake last year. Koirala presented a budget of Rs244 million for the remainder of the current fiscal year. Commenting on the budget, Chief District Officer Tej Prasad Poudel, lawmakers Kedar Sanjel and Anuradha Thapa Magar, among others, highlighted the need of selecting right projects for spending the budget on.
Lalitpur DDC has proposed a budget of Rs5.32 billion for the fiscal year 2016/17. Local Development Officer Pashupati Pokharel proposed the budget for the next fiscal year during the 25th meet of District Council on Wednesday. Pokharel said the committee has set aside 31.21 percent of the budget for current expenditure and the rest for capital expenditure. Of the total budget, Rs392m has been allocated for roads, Rs214m for children and Rs227m for women.
