Campus Road and Hasanpur Royals registered wins in the Dhangadi Cricket League-3 here at the SSP cricket ground on Sunday.
Campus Road rode on an explosive 44-run knock from Santosh Bhatt to beat Attariya team by 15 runs. Campus Road put on 127-9 in 20 overs before restricting Attariya for 112 in 19.1 overs. Campus Road were reduced to 13-2 in the fourth over but No 4 batsman Bhatt lifted his team to a competitive total with a fiery 26-ball knock that yielded five boundaries and two sixes. Lokesh Bam with 16 and Narayan Josh with 15 runs were the next best contributors with the bat. National team allrounder Mehboob Alam was pick of the Attariya bowlers with figures of 3-11, while Nabin Bhandari (2-14) and Bhuwan KC (2-26) shared four wickets.
Attariya were themselves at a dire straits losing three wickets for 27 runs, including hard-hitting Alam for a first-ball duck. Naresh Bohara (35), Bhuwan KC (19) and Puran Thapa (19) tried to bring their team back into the game. But their efforts went in vain as no of the other batsmen were able to capitalise on the foundation. Bohara struck three fours and a six in his 24-ball innings. Shiv Raj Ayer took three wickets, while Sagar Bhandari claimed two for Campus Road. Bhatt was adjudged man-of-the-match for his splendid knock for Campus Road.
Hasanpur defeated Santoshi Tole by 48 runs in a low scoring second match of the day. Hasanpur battled to 111 runs in 19.4 overs but defended the total by dismissing Santoshi Tole for 63 runs in 17.1 overs.
Bhim Sarki top scored for Hasanpur with 29 runs, his 26-ball knock included four hits to the fence. Prakash Thapa was their next best scorer with 12 runs. Hasanpur’s total was also boosted by 29 sundries conceded by their opponents. Roshan Adhikari completed a five-wicket haul for Santoshi Tole. Amit Budha also snared two, while Mahesh Adhikari and Prakash Jung Karki took one wicket apiece.
Santoshi Tole never appeared in hunt despite chasing a low total with opener Bijay Rana top scoring for them with 13 runs. Man-of-the-match Prakash Thapa was pick of the Hasanpur bowlers with an enviable figures of 4-9 in four overs.
Binod Lama also grabbed three and Amit Padal two wickets for Hasanpur. Chauraha will take on Campus Road in early kick off, while Santoshi will meet Attariya in the second match on Monday.
