Seven killed, 27 injured in separate road accidents

Seven people died and 27 others were injured, some critically, in two separate road accidents in Bardiya and Dadeldhura districts on Saturday night.
Four persons died on the spot when a bus carrying a wedding participants met with an accident at Babai-4, Bardiya. Twenty-six people sustained injuries in the
incident. Two of the injured are reportedly in critical condition.
Police identified the deceased as Arun Tharu, 14, Niraj Tharu, 16, Bishnu Tharu, 17, and Santosh Tharu, 19, of Dhadhawar-7. Twenty people, who were seriously injured, were taken to Kohalpur Medical College in Banke.
The bus (Bhe 1 Kha 854) was returning to Dhadhawar from Shahipur. Police said the 35-seater bus was carrying around 80 people. Its driver Narayan Poudel was taken into custody as police suspect that over-speeding could have caused the accident.
In another incident, a jeep swerved off the road and fell some 300 metres at Manilek VDC in Dadeldhura district, killing three persons and injuring one.
The District Police Office said driver Sher Bahadur Bhul, 30, Chhablal Awasthi, 35, and Khadkaraj Awasthi, 30, of Manilek died in the crash. Ganesh Awasthi, who was injured in the accident, was taken to Nepalgunj for treatment.
