Santoshi Tole brought a halt to Chauraha’s three-match winning streak with an easy six-wicket victory in the Dhangadi Cricket League-3 here at the SP ground on Thursday.
Chauraha, who still lead the table on net run-rate with four points, were skittled out for a paltry 96 in 18.2 overs. Santoshi Tole then rode on a solid stand from Sunil Dhamala and Bijay Rana to reach 100-4 in 17.5 overs.
Dhamala and Rana combined for a 70-run opening wicket stand to ease the chase. Dhamala made 29 off 30 with four boundaries and six, while Rana top scored with 39 not out from 54 deliveries, hitting three fours and a six. Amit Shahu was 11 not out. Sonu Tamang picked up all four Santoshi Tole wickets to fall.
Earlier, Prakash Karki and Tekendra Bohora picked up three wickets each to squeeze out Chauraha to a low total. Yogendra Karki made a 21-ball 19 with two fours for the losing side.
Dipendra Thapa (14), Bipin Rawal (13) and Sandeep Zora (10) were the remaining batsman to make runs in double figures. Dhamala and Budha also claimed two wickets each. Bohora was adjudged the man-of-the-match.
In the first match of the day, left-arm seamer Lalit Singh Bhandari wreaked havoc Campus Road registered their second victory of the tournament, defeating a hapless Hasanpur Royals by four wickets. Campus Road (four) are second on net run rate. Man-of-the-match Bhandari removed the first four Hasanpur batsmen cheaply in his burst of opening spell that saw them bundled out for just 48 runs in 17.1 overs.
Santosh Bhatt and Sagar Bhandari also picked up two wickets each to support Bhandari. Binod Lama (11) was the only Hasanpur batsman to make runs in double figures.
Campus Road overcame the target in 14.1 overs but not before losing six wickets in a low run chase. Amar Dhanuk scored a 19-ball 16 runs, his knock studded with three boundaries. Bhatt contributed an unbeaten run-a-ball 14 for the winning side. Dipendra Airee and Lama took two wickets each for Campus Road.
