Nepal Stock Exchange (Nepse) on Sunday posted a single-day transaction of Rs1 billion, with Agriculture Development Bank (ADBL) recording the highest individual turnover of Rs 95.85 million.Nepal Stock Exchange (Nepse) on Sunday posted a single-day transaction of Rs1 billion, with Agriculture Development Bank (ADBL) recording the highest individual turnover of Rs 95.85 million.
Investors are increasingly getting attracted towards ADBL shares after the bank announced issuing right’s share to raise its paid-up capital.
However, it were insurance companies that drove the overall market transaction. Premier Insurance Company alone witnessed Rs81.21 million transaction, followed by Prabhu Insurance, Neco Insurance, Siddhartha Insurance, National Life Insurance and Shikhar Insurance.
Analysts said the fact that the Insurance board (IB) is getting more stringent in regulating the sector and ensuring corporate governance boosted investor confidence. “Investors’ confidence in insurance companies has increased recently,” said Anjan Raj Poudyal, past president of Nepal Stockbrokers’ Association.
Other factors driving the market growth include relatively stable political situation, surplus liquidity with banks, and improved stock trading system.
