NA takes valuable advice on disaster preparedness

The week-long workshop, which saw participation of 240 army and police officers from 18 countries, including 60 NA personnel, pointed out several improvement Nepal needs to make to cope with disasters.
The conference suggested effective coordination among the government agencies, setting up a systematic mechanism to better utilise the expertise from abroad during disasters, and constructing an alternative airport to the Tribhuvan International Airport, among others.
“The recommendations of the symposium are very fruitful which will be incorporated in our disaster response strategy,” said Chief of Army Staff Rajendra Chhetri in the closing ceremony.
