Metropolitan Police Crime Division, Teku, nabbed Sunny Lama, 28, Sajit Lama, 24, and Rajan Rai, 19, all residents of Bouddha, Kathmandu, for their alleged involvement in the murder of Venisha from their hiding place in Sarlahi on Wednesday. One further suspect is at large.
Venisha, a native of Dhankuta, resided at Kapan in the Capital. She had gone missing since February 20. According to MPCD Chief SSP Sarbendra Khanal, Venisha was involved with Sunny Lama in a romantic affair.
On the night of the incident, Venisha had gone to a night club in Thamel with Sunny and to spend the night together, they returned to an apartment near Bouddha Gate. “It is found that Sunny, Venisha and the absconding man stayed together at the same apartment and consumed alcohol,” said Khanal.
“Sunny and Venisha had consensual sex that night,” the police informed. “And then the absconding suspect knocked on the door of the room where the couple were staying. The one at large tried to rape Venisha who ran to the washroom where he allegedly pushed her from the sixth floor of the building,” said SSP Khanal.
“After pushing her down, the accused along with Sunny left the apartment in a car to take Venisha to a hospital. He drove her around the town but she succumbed to her injuries in the car after which they later took her body and dumped it at Nagarkot,” the police said.
According to the police, the three men are under arrest at the Metropolitan Police Range, Bhaktapur, for further investigation.
