Two bodies of infants found
Police suspect the newborns could have been abandoned after they were born of an illicit relationship, or born out of wedlock or rapeTwo bodies of newborn babies were found in as many days in Balkot and Byasi of Bhaktapur. The torso of a three-day-old baby boy was found in a gorge in Balkot on Tuesday morning, according to police. Legs and hands of the newborn were missing.
“It seems the body was buried, and stray dogs had dug it out,” said Inspector Yubraj Sharma. The body was sent to TU Teaching Hospital for post mortem on Tuesday.
Meanwhile, body of another newborn was found in almost decomposed state in a cauliflower field belonging to Ram Hari Duka Banajara in Byasi, according to SP Kiran Bajracharya of Metropolitan Police Circle, Bhaktapur.
On March 10, Metropolitan Police Circle, Bhaktapur, had found the body of an infant on the bank of Hanumante river in Suryabinayak-2.
SP Bajracharya said police were conducting enquiry at hospitals in the district to collect data about babies born there in recent times.
Police suspect the newborns could have been abandoned after they were born of an illicit relationship, or born out of wedlock or rape.
But nonetheless, rise in number of such cases has become a cause of concern.
