Delays may hit electric bus plan
Kathmandu Metropolitan City’s plan to introduce electric buses in the Valley is likely to face delays, officials have warned.Kathmandu Metropolitan City’s plan to introduce electric buses in the Valley is likely to face delays, officials have warned.
As per an agreement made last year, 30 electric buses were supposed to be brought to Kathmandu—20 buses to be granted by China government and 10 to be purchased by Nepal government.
According to KMC’s Public Private Partnership Chief Shiva Raj Adhikari, Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli’s China visit failed to address the issue.
“Last year a group of Chinese technical team had come for road inspection in the Valley and submitted a proposal which was later approved,” said Adhikari.
The environment-friendly buses were seen as a viable option in times of fuel crisis. Once charged for two hours, officials said such buses could run up to 200 kilometres.
