Multiple fire incidents cause massive damage to homes, properties

Although there were no human casualties, many people lost their homes and belongings.
A fire that broke out in Kushawa VDC of Kapilvastu district destroyed as many as 125 huts and animal sheds.
Police said many huts that were made of wood and hay burnt to ashes. Some cattle were also killed.
Properties worth nearly Rs 10 million was destroyed in the incident.
The blaze was brought under control after nearly four hours by police and locals.
Chief District Officer Indu Ghimire said he has instructed the VDC secretary to arrange shelters and food for the fire victims. In another incident, a fire at a plywood factory in Hattimudha VDC of Morang caused a damage worth around Rs 3 million. Another fire that broke out at a settlement in Sisbani Jahada VDC of Morang also destroyed five houses, police said.
In Darbang village of Myagdi, a two-storey house caught fire due to a short circuit. Properties worth nearly Rs 6 million was destroyed in the incident.
Police said the house was rented by the students of Rastriya Secondary School who are appearing in the ongoing school leaving certificate (SLC) exams. The house is located close to Janapriya Higher Secondary School, the SLC exam centre for the students of Rastriya Secondary School. District Education Officer of Myagdi Ram Prasad Adhikari said the test for optional subjects of Computer, Education, and Accountancy was delayed by nearly one hour because of the incident.
