The aircraft with the call sign 9N-ABU was about to fly for Nepalgunj. After the plane had moved 540 metres for take-off, the pilot JK Niraula noticed the problem—the wire of plane’s nose gear steering-wheel had snapped.
The crew immediately turned the engine off, bringing the aircraft to a halt.
The aircraft was grounded at around 1:30pm, Jumla airport Chief Pawan Shrestha said.
“Later he security personnel, aircraft staff and passengers pushed the plane to a safer area,” said Shrestha. A team of engineers and necessary equipment will be brought for the maintenance of the plane, the airport said.
Passengers said the accident was averted due to the alertness of crew members.
