Eight killed in Doti jeep crash

Eight people were killed in a jeep accident at Jijodamandau VDC-3 in Doti district on Tuesday night. Seven others were injured. 

Condition of two is said to be critical. According to police, the jeep (Na 4 Kha 3294) veered off the steep dirt road and fell around 300 metres at around 9pm. The vehicle was on its way to Uchchakot. Police identified the deceased as Prof Jaya Raj Panta, 62, his wife Gudi Panta, 55, and Sabitra Panta, 52. The Pantas were professors at Padmakanya Campus in Kathmandu. Ganesh Raj Panta, Keshav Raj Panta, Harina Tamata, Janaki Tamrakar and jeep driver Chetraj Balayar also died in the accident.
