Community schools on enrolment drive
Apr 15, 2016- District Education Offices in Syangja and Baglung are launching welcome programmes at various community schools on April 21 in a bid to boost admission for this academic session.
Acting District Education Officer in Syangja Baburam Sapkota said they have been planning to organise a door-to-door campaign for new admissions. “We should create a favourable environment in the schools to increase the student intake,” said Sapkota, assuring of financial aid and scholarships to the students who cannot afford school fees.
The DEO’s campaign to admit students of all age group follows a dip in admissions into the government schools in recent years. “We will hold consultations with parents associations and stakeholders on ways to increase student numbers in the community schools,” said Sapkota. The DEO will also be carrying out regular inspections of schools beginning mid-April in Syangja, which has been declared ‘literate’ two years ago.
DEO in Baglung has set a target of increasing student admission in government schools by 100 percent in all aged group. “We also have taken initiative to distribute text books to the students on time,” said District Education Officer Bishnu Prasad Mishra.
