Speaking at a programme, the leader of the main opposition said the newly-adopted constitution is flexible and that any weaknesses there in could be redressed through dialogue and consensus among parties.
Deuba’s remarks come at a time when the Madhes-based parties are preparing to launch another round of protest demanding a review of the current federal structures.
“No constitution in the world is perfect, it could be advanced through amendment. The same applies in our context,” said Deuba, insisting that the new constitution is inclusive.
He called on the Madhes-based parties to give priority to dialogue over protests. “All the parties should be flexible to addressing problems,” Deuba said, adding that the first statute amendment has addressed some demands.
Parties are ready to revisit the state boundaries but the committee headed by Foreign Minister Kamal Thapa has yet to start work as the NC and the Madhes-based parties have refused to join it.
