The Indian Embassy in Kathmandu celebrated 125th birth anniversary of Bhimrao Ramji Ambedkar on Thursday.
Nepali Congress President Sher Bahadur Deuba was the chief guest and former minister Hisila Yami the guest of honour at the event.
Speaking at the programme, Deuba highlighted Ambedkar’s contribution to the upliftment of the weaker sections in India, which was made possible through the rights enshrined in the Indian constitution.
Indian Ambassador to Nepal Ranjit Rae highlighted the contribution made by Ambedkar in drafting the Constitution of India and giving the charter its very essence as a document for political and socio-economic development of the country.
