Chamling to be conferred Yugkavi Siddhicharan Prize
Sikkimese Chief Minister and senior writer Pawan Kuman Chamling, a tireless craftsman of Nepali language and literature, will be conferred with the esteemed Yugkavi Siddhicharan Prize 2073 as per the decision of the executive committee meeting of Yugkavi Siddhicharan Foundation held on April 6 under the chairmanship of its president Professor Dr Mohan Lohani.Sikkimese Chief Minister and senior writer Pawan Kuman Chamling, a tireless craftsman of Nepali language and literature, will be conferred with the esteemed Yugkavi Siddhicharan Prize 2073 as per the decision of the executive committee meeting of Yugkavi Siddhicharan Foundation held on April 6 under the chairmanship of its president Professor Dr Mohan Lohani.
The prize is being awarded to Chamling in recognition of his commendable contributions to the literary scene in Nepal with noteworthy works such as Prarambhik Kavita (poems, 1978), Antyaheen Sapana: Mero Bipana (poems, 1985), Ma Ko Hoon! (poems, 1992), and Sikkim ra Nariko Maryada, in spite of his busy engagements at the capacity of the Chief Minister which require unfaltering dedication and a continual investment of time and effort of Chamling.
According to Rabicharan Shrestha, patron of the foundation, Chamling will be bestowed with the prestigious prize which carries with it a sum of Rs. 100,000 and an honourable citation, on May 22 on the occasion of Siddicharan Shrestha’s 105th birth anniversary in Kathmandu. The meeting has also decided that as in the past, different events will be organised on May 21, 22 and 23 in honour of the poet’s birth anniversary.
