NC sister wings prepare for conclaves
The Nepali Congress (NC) has expedited preparations for holding conventions of the party’s sister wings. The Nepali Congress (NC) has expedited preparations for holding conventions of the party’s sister wings.
The party and its sister organisations have already started preparations following directives from party President Sher Bahadur Deuba to hold conventions within six months.
More than half a dozen sister organisations of the NC have not held their conventions for the last eight years.
Earlier, conventions of sister organisations were hit due to internal disputes. Though the party had planned to hold the conventions before its General Convention in March, the plan failed to materialise due to time constraints.
“The party has started preparations for holding conventions of sister organisations at the earliest. The delay has affected organisational works,” said NC Central Working Committee (CWC) member Ramesh Rijal.
Nepal Tarun Dal, Nepal Peasants Association, Nepal Student Union and Nepal Women Association are some of the sister wings of the NC whose conventions need to be held at the earliest. Nepal Tarun Dal has said that it will soon fix the date for its convention.
House hearing panel does exist: Poudel
KATHMANDU: Senior Nepali Congress leader Ram Chandra Poudel has said that the Parliamentary Hearing Special Committee still exists and that there is no difficulty in starting hearing of Supreme Court justices and ambassadors.
Speaking at a programme organised by the Reporter’s Club, the NC leader said that the ruling parties were spreading rumors that there is not hearing committee. Poudel also objected to the ambassadorial recommendations made by the government on Tuesday.
“The government did consult us and there is no representation of the NC,” said Poudel, adding that there is monopoly when it comes to political appointments.
In a separate context, Poudel said that the government should call House session without delay. (PR)
