Over 100 amateur golfers will rub their shoulders for the top honour in the two-day championship. The tournament will be played over
18 holes under stableford format with maximum of 18 handicap for the men and 24 for ladies. In all, 44 players will complete their game on the inaugural day, while another 60 will play their rounds the next day.
Prizes on offer include overall winner and runner-up, ladies’ winner and runner-up, senior winner, guest winner, best net first nine score and best net second nine score among others. Managing Director of Gorkha Brewery Philip Norley said: “The association of Carlsberg with golf has come a long way since its inception in the late 1990’s giving opportunities for aspiring amateur golfers to participate. Carlsberg’s sponsorship with golf has been built on decades of support and the brand continues to be a proud sponsor of golf in Nepal.”
Baibhav Sharma, Head of Marketing at Gorkha Brewery said: “This is probably the best start to a golfing season of 2016. Our passion for golf is evident with the various tournaments that we sponsor every year. We are excited about presenting this tournament to the aspiring golfers of Nepal.”
The RNGC captain NK Rai said the event was an excellent platform for competitive game for amateur golfers. “On behalf of RNGC, I must extend my sincere gratitude to the sponsors for their continuous support to amateur golf in domestic circuit. Such sponsorships will eventually take amateur golf to the next level,” said Rai.
