Two killed in forest fire

Police have identified the deceased as Tulasi Bahadur Lama, 55, and Lok Bahadur Gurung, 62, of Doholi-2 in the district. With this, the number of deaths due to forest fires has reached three in the district.
According to police, they were trying to control the fire that had spread into their fields from the Barleghat Community Forest in Doholi-5.
Min Lama of Doholi-2 has sustained burn injuries.
Forest fires have been raging across the country this summer, destroying around 350,000 hectares of forest cover in the past 45 days.
Raging jungle blaze has been posing a serious threat to humans and wildlife, while the country is losing its forest resources.
In the wake of loss to forest resources due to uncontrolled fires, the Parliamentary Committee on Environment Protection on Wednesday had expressed its concerns about lack of efforts on the part of the government to control them.
