Several NC wings have not held their general conventions for long. The party leadership has been criticised for creating a leadership vacuum in the organisations.
Disputes, including over membership, and factional feud were the main reason behind repeated deferrals of the conventions.
NSU is considered as a major sister organisation of the party as its produces future leaders of the NC and is instrumental for party mobilisation. Union President Ranjit Karna informed NC President Sher Bahadur Deuba that the NSU was preparing to hold the convention after one and a half months.
Deuba has assigned party leader Prakash Sharan Mahat to help coordinate the event. Deuba had invited the NSU president to his residence to enquire about the preparations for the general convention.
“We will fix the date for the general convention by calling a central committee meeting within the next 10 days,” Karna said. Nepal Tarun Dal and Nepal Women’s Association are holding their general conventions in August.
