SPA triumph as Triton rout KCM

On a day when both the winners posted above 200 runs at the TU Stadium, SPA hammered Platinum College by 113 runs and Triton routed Kathmandu College of Management (KCM) by a whopping 126 runs.
In the first match, a magnificent 98-run knock from opener Subash Khakurel guided SPA to 217-3. Platinum, in reply, were 104 all out in 19.2 overs. Left arm seamer Lalit Singh Bhandari, who took 2-9 from three overs, and Santosh Bhatta’s 2-8 from four overs kept Platinum in check.
Aman Panthi took three wickets but leaked 40 runs in four overs. Jagdish Karki top scored for Platinum with a 20-ball 30 that included three fours and two sixes, while Santosh Adhikari (18) and Sushan Shrestha (16) were remaining batsmen to reach double figures.
Earlier, national team wicketkeeper batsman Khakurel almost single-handedly took the team to a big total beginning with a 129-run opening wicket stand with Sandeep Sunar. U-19 opener Sunar made 56 off 37 with seven fours and a six. Khakurel then added another 63 runs with skipper Raju Rijal (19 not out) before falling two runs short of a century. Khakurel clobbered 13 fours and three sixes in just 61 deliveries.
Triton rode on an enterprising 91 from Shankar Rana to amass 211-3 in 20 overs before they restricted KCM to 85-8 in 20 overs. Skipper Ritesh Singh and MD Ahraz picked up two wickets each for Triton. Aditya Shrestha fought for KCM with a 26-ball 29 with four boundaries and a six. Ashish Khadka (19) was the next best scorer.
Rana gave a dream start to Triton with a 112-run opening wicket partnership with Amit Shrestha who made 33 off 30. After Shrestha’s departure, he added another 79 with Manjeet Shrestha. Rana stroked 14 boundaries in his 60-ball knock. Shrestha provided the late lift smashing 22-ball 60 four boundaries and six sixes. Prayash Mishra took two wickets for KCM.
