KMC starts transferring fish from Ranipokhari

The Kathmandu Metropolitan City (KMC) has started transferring the fish from Ranipokhari pond to Balaju Baisdhara Park. The 350-year-old pond is being renovated for the first time, and the KMC has decided to pump out the its water for this undertaking. There are estimated 4,000 catfish in Ranipokhari. They will be released to different ponds located inside the Balaju Baishdra Park.
The main part of the renovation project is rebuilding the Yamaleshwor temple
situated in the middle of the pond. The shrine was damaged in the April 25 earthquake of last year.
The KMC has allocated Rs 116 million for the project.
