Three members of a family died when a flashflood triggered by downpour swept away a Scorpio jeep in Bhingri-1 in the district on Saturday. Five others of the family on board the vehicle were injured in the incident.

The sudden flood in the Muhankhola swept away the vehicle (Ba 14 Cha 3839) some 60 metres from the road. The family was returning to Dang after a pilgrimage tour to Sworgadwari, Pyuthan. 

Police identified the deceased as Sukadev Khanal, 55, and his daughters Bimala Khanal, 19, and Asmita Khanal, 13, of Tulsipur Municipality-19 in Dang district. 

Deputy Superintendent of Police Ranjit Singh Rathour said that the injured had been sent to Kohalpur Medical College in Banke following the primary treatment at the local health facility. The vehicle driver and two passengers are unhurt in the incident, police said.
