Parliament is set to take decisions on crucial legal provisions related to education, banking, procurement and regulations to guide its own business on Thursday.

The government is also preparing to table the Economic Survey—the first since the promulgation of the Constitution of Nepal.

Three crucial bills related to education, banking and procurement will be tabled for the endorsement on Thursday, while budget for the upcoming fiscal year 2016-17 will be presented on Saturday.

Sudarshan Kuikel, deputy spokesperson for the Parliament Secretariat, said that the Parliamentary Committee on Finance will table the bill for the much-talked Bank and Financial Institution Act (Bafia) while the Parliamentary Committee on Women, Children and Social Welfare will present the bill on eighth amendment to Education Act-2017. Similarly, the Good Governance and Monitoring Committee is tabling the bill on Public Procurement Act.

The bill on Bafia and Education Act was approved by the respective Parliamentary Committees on Wednesday itself.

If endorsed, the Bafia Act will help reduce banking crime as it has set stringent measures to curb banking and financial offences. The amendment process in the Education Act, which was first initiated in 2009 to implement School Sector Reform Programme, is yet to get approval from Parliament though it was tabled in the full House four years ago.

In addition, Parliament is also scheduled to take decisions on Parliament Regulations that has become the most contentious issue.
