The condition of veteran musician Amber Gurung, who is undergoing treatment at Grande International Hospital in critical health, is said to be deteriorating.

According to Dr Chakra Raj Pandey, medical director at the hospital, Gurung is on ventilator for severity in pneumonia and bleeding in upper gastrointestinal tract. “We are doing our best. But he is critically ill and it is exacerbating,” said Dr Pandey. Gurung’s son Raju said that doctors have informed them about his health condition.

Gurung was admitted to the hospital last Monday after complaints of digestive problems and high blood pressure.

On Sunday, Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli visited the hospital to learn about Gurung’s health and assured the family members of “any sort of support” for his treatment.

Pulmonologist Dr Arjun Karki, gastroenterologist Dr Bibek Sharma and neurologist Dr Raju Poudel are among the doctors looking after Gurung.
