The Road Division Office (RDO) is upgrading the Belbas-Nuwakot track which was originally built as an alternative route for the landslide-prone section of the Siddhartha Highway in Siddhababa area.
The 17 km two-lane track will extend from Belbas in Rupandehi district to Dovan in Palpa district after completion. The RDO has started gravelling the track from Nuwakot.
Chief Engineer at the RDO Sujan Adhikari said the gravelling work is expected to be completed by the next fiscal year. Siddhababa area has been witnessing landslides almost every year, causing hardship for travellers.
The area is located in an active rack-fall zone and it is dangerous to travel through it during monsoon.
