Families of 14 Qatar migrants get redress

DOHA (QATAR): The families of 14 Nepali migrant workers who died in various work-related accidents in Qatar between February 2009 and January 2016 have received compensation from the respective companies, the Nepali Embassy in Qatar said. The embassy collected 2.43 million riyal from the companies and sent it to the families of the deceased through the Home Ministry recently. The embassy had represented the victims in court in a legal battle with the employing companies for compensation. Embassy officials said a total of 320,000 riyal was spent in litigation. (PR)

One dead, 15 hurt in accident

SIRAHA: A passenger died when a bus caught fire after it collided head-on with a truck at Golbazaar along the East-West Highway on Thursday. The bus was destroyed in the fire. The identity of the deceased is yet to be ascertained, said police. Fifteen other people were injured. (PR)

Injured deer released 

JUMLA: A barking deer, which was found injured at Chandannath-14 on Tuesday, has been released in a forest at Haku following treatment. Assistant Forest Officer Shyamlal Mahat said the deer, locally called Ratuwa, was left in the Bhurichula forest at Haku-1. The local people found the protected animal at Shreedhuska and handed it over to the district forest office. (PR)
