According to a statement issued by the Prime Minister’s Office, the duo discussed matters related to bilateral ties, reconstruction, implementation of the constitution and US assistance to Nepal.
The US has termed Nepal’s new constitution as a milestone and “a living document that should be taken to the people for broader engagement”.
Todd praised the efforts made by the Oli-led government to implement the new constitution. He also hoped that Nepal would prepare an environment conducive to trade and investment. The US official said he hoped that the parties expressing displeasure over the new constitution will join the government-initiated talks to resolve their grievances through dialogue.
Expressing concern over the delay in post-earthquake reconstruction, Todd said rebuilding works should be expedited.
During the meeting, PM appreciated US tax exemption for 66 Nepali export items.
