The Parliament Secretariat has incorporated discussion on the regulations in the agenda of the House meeting.
The ruling parties decided to let Parliament decide the matter after a meeting called by Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli on Tuesday failed to resolve the disputes.
At the meeting attended by senior leaders from the major ruling and opposition parties, both the sides remained adamant on their stand, mainly the size of the Parliamentary Hearing Special Committee.
“Parliament will start the process on Wednesday. However, it will take a week to take a final decision,” said Yogendra Chaudhary, chief whip of the ruling Madhesi Janadhikar Forum-Loktantrik.
A meeting of the parties held early this month had decided to wait until mid-June to find a solution. However, no concrete efforts were made to resolve the issue in the period.
The process to formulate the parliamentary regulations began eight months ago. While the ruling parties want the Hearing Committee downsized to 15-member as provisioned in the new constitution, the opposition seeks continuation of the 73-member committee.
Parliament will vote to take a decision if the ruling and opposition parties do not reach a compromise.
