Ratnajit, Nangsal win

In the fifth edition of the tournament, Ratnajit successfully defended his title, defeating Bikash Shrestha of Bhojpur 21-17, 21-18. Shrestha was the winner of the first edition after which Ratnajit began his dominance. Ratnajit was honoured for his feat with a motorcycle worth Rs 340,000. His title triumph in the current edition also made him richer by Rs 44,500. Shrestha got Rs 34,000.
After the completion of the tournament Ratnajit’s elder sister Sara Devi was also honoured with a scooter for completing a hat-trick of the tournament. Sara Devi had opted out of the current edition and in her absence the women’s singles title also went to Tamang family with their sister Nangsal Devi prevailing in the final.
Nangsal, who also belongs to TAC, eased to a 21-10, 21-9 victory over clubmate Anu Maya Rai. It was Nangsal’s first title in the tournament. Ratnajit earlier won the men’s doubles title after he combined with Nabin Shrestha to beat Dipesh Dhami and Suroj Maharjan of TAC 21-15, 21-15.
Puja Shrestha and Bina Tulachan of APF denied Nangsal a double title after they won the doubles final 21-12, 21-18. Amita Giri was her partner. In the U-17 final, Chiran Bista of Kanchanpur beat Sunil Joshi 19-21, 21-7, 21-17 and Megha Chand of TAC saw off Jessica Gurung of TAC 21-17, 11-21, 21-12.
Nepal Badminton Association also honoured Puja Shrestha for her contribution to Nepali badminton. Shrestha was feted with a scooter worth Rs 190,000.
