Two suspected looters held

MAHOTTARI: Police arrested two suspected looters, including an Indian national, with weapons from Mahottari district on Saturday night. Wakil Sah Ansari, 32, of Shreepur-2 and Anabarul Haque, 28, of Sitamarhi, India, were held with a pistol, its bullets, iron rods and knives, said police. Police suspect that the two men could be involved behind recent incidents of robbery in the area. Ansari and Haque were captured after one Bhabishan Mahato was robbed of Rs 25,000, a motorcycle and two mobile phones at Parsadewad. Police are looking for three others who were also involved in the robbery. Last week, police had arrested seven people, six of them Indian nationals, on robbery charge. (PR)

 

14-year-old buried to death

BHARATPUR: A 14-year-old boy died after being buried in a sand mine at Lothar village in Chitwan on Saturday evening. Homari Praja, who was buried while extracting sand, died on the way to hospital, police said. A fifth grader at Dungbang Primary School, Praja was extracting sand for the construction of his school building. (PR)

 

Outstanding house rent of ex-prez cleared

Kathmandu: The row over house rent of former President Dr Ram Baran Yadav at Bhaisetapi is finally set to be settled after the government issued a cheque for Rs 1.23 million to clear the outstanding rent going back to October last year. According to the Office of the President, the amount will be paid to the house owner, Haribhakta Bista, once the latter has fulfilled some requirements that were agreed earlier. (RSS) 

 

KVDA starts preparations for satellite city

Kathmandu: The Kathmandu Valley Development Authority (KVDA) has started preparations for the proposed satellite city inside Kathmandu Valley. The government, in its budget plan for the coming fiscal year, introduced a plan for constructing three satellite towns inside the Valley. Bhaikaji Tiwari of the KVDA said they have started the homework and they plan to complete the first  satellite town in five years. (RSS)
