Arrested doctors’ petition quashed

The Supreme Court on Monday quashed a writ petition filed by 10 doctors who were arrested by police on charge of possessing fake academic certificates.
A joint bench of Acting Chief Justice Sushila Karki and Justice Gobinda Kumar Upadhyay quashed the writ, according to SC Assistant Spokesperson Bishwaraj Poudel.
Ram Kumar Pradhan, Binita Pandey, Saroj Ghimire, Pannalal Patel, Mohammed Ruhullah and Shreeram Ghimire are among those who had moved the court against their detention.
The Central Investigation Bureau of Nepali Police has arrested as many as 36 doctors from across the country on charge of possessing fake school leaving and higher secondary certificates to acquire their medical degrees.
Meanwhile, Kathmandu District Court on Monday remanded the arrested doctors to five days in custody for further investigation.
