Prez India visit likely in Aug

India and Nepal are in talks to reschedule the visit of President Bidhya Devi Bhandari to New Delhi in August. Her proposed visit in May was cancelled after the Cabinet did not approve it.

Bhandari was invited by Indian President Pranab Mukherjee. Indian Ambas-sador Ranjit Rae said in Arghakhanchi on Sunday that Bhandari’s India visit would be fixed soon. After her, Mukherjee is said to be visiting Nepal. Top officials told the Post the Indian side has proposed her visit ahead of the fourth Joint Commission meeting. After the meeting, there is the possibility of a visit by Mukherjee to Nepal, said sources. The meeting of the mechanism has not been set but during the recent India visit of Foreign Minister Kamal Thapa, the two sides agreed to hold the meeting in late August. (PR)
