The Central Investigation Bureau (CIB) of Nepal Police on Thursday submitted the cases against 36 doctors, who were arrested from different parts of the country for possessing fake academic certificates, to government attorneys who will file charge-sheet against them in respective district courts.

All the doctors have been charged with fraud for practicing medicine based on fake higher secondary credentials of Bihar Intermediate Education Council (BIEC). The doctors were rounded up by the CIB from various parts of the country a couple of weeks ago.

Charge-sheet against 12 doctors will be filed at Kathmandu District Court and against two will be filed at Lalitpur District Court.

Similarly, cases against one doctor each will be filed in district courts in Jhapa, Sunsari, Lamjung, Kaski, Dang and Bhairahawa.

Also, cases against three doctors will be filed in Morang, two in Janakpur, eight in Birgunj and three in Chitwan.

SP Dibesh Lohani, spokesperson for the CIB, said the concerned district attorneys will soon file charge-sheets against the doctors in question.

The CIB has already released Dr Jabed Akhtar after he posted Rs 50,000 bail sought by Morang District Court. He was found to be using National Medical Council registration number belonging to some other doctor. The CIB under its “Operation Quack” has since February arrested 54 doctors. Sixteen of the 17 doctors arrested in February were released on bail.
